Franchise Resales is a unique UK service that provides the opportunity for franchisees and franchisors complete successful resales of their businesses. Franchise Resales has been established by the founding business partners Iain Martin and Derrick Simpson to address the growing demand for clarity and simplicity in the process of selling existing franchised businesses. It has long been a topic of debate amongst British Franchise Association members, and non members, about the most efficient and effective way to expedite the smooth exit of their franchisees from the various franchised systems. Many involved have expressed their view but very few franchisors have ever grasped the nettle and put in place the necessary investment and structure to provide this vital service for their franchisees.

The operating system used by Franchise Resales Limited is designed to remove the main reasons that resales often fail during negotiations thereby providing a comprhensive, secure and effective solution to the hassle of reselling a franchised business.  The system is based on the tried and tested processes used over many years by the founders, refined and extended to become the definitive resales process in the UK. The company is also supported by affiliated suppliers, business valuation services, solicitors and business brokers.

Many consultant firms, banks and solicitors can and do offer individual parts of the resales process and various websites provide an advertising platform but within the UK there is no one that offers the entire "end to end" service for both sellers and buyers provided by Franchise Resales.

Founding Partners

Derrick Simpson - Managing Partner
Derrick has played an active role within UK franchising since 1988.  From an early retail career including being a buyer for Selfridges and a Director of Blacks Leisure Derrick entered franchising in 1988. He moved to Kall Kwik in 1990 and over the years supported franchisees in most of the key areas; field operations, technical support, business planning and marketing before moving into the area for which he is best known that of reselling existing franchisees businesses.
                            
When On Demand Communications was formed, combining the two leading print brands Kall Kwik and Prontaprint, Derrick became the Director of Franchise Development and it is here he established their very successful resales systems and processes becoming well known within the UK franchising sector as the person to go to for resales advice.

He has also spent time with the Myhome Group leaving in October 2006 to establish Franchise Resales Limited.

Researching the marketplace it was clear there was a huge gap in the marketplace for resales expertise and, following discussions with many franchisors as to their requirements for resales and the hassle they cause, he created the highly structured and effective Franchise Resales System.

An active supporter of the BFA Derrick has been both Regional Chairman of London and the South East and also a member of the BFA Board.   He is a regular speaker at BFA events on matters around franchise resales and is often consulted by existing members for advice on the subject


Iain Martin

Iain
has been involved in matching individuals to opportunities for virtually all of his working life. Following university, Iain moved into IT sales with a major international computer manufacturer and subsequently joined IT resourcing company Computer People. He became Sales Director of the UK business, which at the time was the largest specialist provider of IT staff services in the UK In 1994 he bought a consultancy franchise and worked with large and small companies who wished to grow their business through franchise expansion. Iain sold his franchise in 1999 and set up Kyros Business Services, which today is the largest specialist franchise brokerage in the UK.

Kyros introduces prospective purchasers of UK franchises to franchisors through its network of consultants working across the whole of the UK. A division of Kyros, in association with Howarth Franchising, offers the premier franchise Executive Search service in the UK and a further arm facilitates the process of bringing Master Franchisors into the UK. It is an Affiliate Member of the British Franchise Association in its own right and Iain is an active participant in both BFA affiliate meetings and also regional events. In summary Iain is an out and out franchise professional, held in high regard for his principled approach to business throughout the UK franchise industry.

It is from this strong background and belief in the concepts of ethical franchising that Derrick and Iain have formed Franchise Resales Limited. In addition to Iain and Derrick, Franchise Resales has two account managers, Gordon Cutting and Tony Mundella, who work directly with selling franchisees and Angela Hayne maintains our efficient system, as Central coordinator, based at our Stourbridge office.
