Buying an Existing Franchise Appeals to Majority of Franchise Candidates

Starting a business from scratch isn’t for everyone. It requires finding a location, building a unit, buying equipment, hiring employees, placing advertisements, identifying suppliers, and ultimately attracting customers. And then there’s the major concern: Not running out of money before the business catches on and turns a profit.

For many franchise buyers, including the majority of buyers who attended last June’s International Franchise Expo in New York City, there’s a better way to own a business: Buy an existing franchise!

64% of people who attended the 2015 International Franchise Expo expressed a desire to buy an existing franchise as opposed to starting a franchise from scratch.

People often get the idea that the only way to own a franchise is to start one from scratch, but nowadays, thousands of existing, successful franchises, including name brand businesses, are for sale. Why are they for sale? For the same reason that thousands of non-franchised businesses are for sale. Owners decide to sell to retire, to raise money to buy another business, to downsize a portfolio of businesses, etc.

Why are these franchises for sale? For the same reasons that thousands of non-franchised businesses are for sale. Owners decide to sell to retire, to raise money to buy another business, to downsize a portfolio of businesses, etc. Almost everyone who buys a franchise wants to sell it at some point! And if the business is successful, the selling franchisee stands to gain a sizable profit!

If franchising makes sense for you, but you’ve been concerned about the start-up phase of a new business, consider buying an existing franchise! Through due diligence and the traditional franchise disclosure process you will be able to identify existing franchises that suit your needs and meet your financial requirements.
