When local franchise owners Marvin and Cheryl Kobza were living abroad in the early 2000s, they came across a charming culinary gift store called Oil & Vinegar. They fell in love with the store concept and the quality of products and began learning about the Oil & Vinegar brand and Franchise. The Kobzas learned the Netherlands-based Oil & Vinegar franchise has over 90 locations across Europe, and 18 in the United States.
Upon returning to the U.S. after eleven years in Germany, the Kobzas opened their very own Oil & Vinegar store. They were thrilled to introduce the Oil & Vinegar motto to North Texas: “TASTE-LOVE-SHARE”. To this day they strive to ensure each customer feels like a guest and leaves their store having had an European-inspired tasting experience. The boutique gift shop concept of Oil & Vinegar brings together a wide range of international food, wine, and cooking products as well as the largest assortment of oil and vinegar in the Dallas area.
An Amphora Wall – holding oils and vinegars from all over the world – is the focal point of each Oil & Vinegar store. These glass containers, mounted on a dramatic rock wall, are designed to be the same shape as the clay pots used thousands of years ago for the storage of oils. The large assortment of high smoke point Grapeseed Oils, Infused Olive Oils, Nut Oils, and endless Vinegar flavors is a highlight of the store. Each oil is fresh and dated and has a shelf life of 1 year to 18 months. In fact, the product is kept so fresh in the store, it isn’t even bottled until you are ready to make your purchase! Guests select their preferred bottle size and shape, then choose the oils or vinegars to fill the bottles. When it’s time for a refill, guests may bring back the clean and dry bottles to reuse!
The vinegars at O&V are Cheryl’s personal favorite product offered at her store. They have a vast array of flavors, including many fruit vinegars flavored with fruit pulp such as Mango, Pineapple and Strawberry. It is also worth noting that many of the vinegars at O&V have no sugar added – an excellent option for those of us looking to create tasty, healthy meals that the entire family will enjoy! Think Mango Coconut Shrimp Tacos and Feta Arugula Salad dressed with Watermelon Vinegar and Meyer Lemon Olive Oil. Even kids and grandkids will love the pairings I share with you next month! Among the many top quality vinegars, there is a nice selection of Certified Modena Balsamic Vinegar aged up to 25 years. This is one of the most delicious balsamic vinegars I have ever tasted. Cheryl says, “Having high quality balsamic vinegar in your pantry is a must for any family that uses their kitchen.”
Extra Virgin, Cold Pressed Olive Oil is really just a “finishing oil” and should never be heated higher than 350 degrees, or else it can become carcinogenic. Grapeseed Oil can be used at temperatures up to 450 degrees and 480 degrees; and Avocado Oil is safe to use up to 500+ degrees!
