The Baked Bear story

Back in 2012, childhood friends, Rob Robbins and Shane Stanger, left their careers to follow their true passion: to open a restaurant concept together in San Diego. Rob’s favorite dessert growing up was ice cream sandwiches. So after much deliberation, they decided to move forward with a cookie and ice cream shop where they would specialize in putting them together to make custom ice cream sandwiches!

They opened their first store in Pacific Beach, CA in May 2013. From day 1 to the present day, they have been pleasantly surprised to find lines down the street and have won the hearts of locals and tourists that have drawn accolades from Forbes, Eater, Thrillist, and more. Since 2013, The Baked Bear has expanded to many stores across the country, always with the same mentality, serving the best tasting ice cream sandwiches in a fun atmosphere while providing the best customer service possible!

The Baked Bear offers over a dozen baked from scratch original-recipe cookies and ice cream flavors, giving guests a chance to mix and match cookies or brownies for their top and bottom while choosing their favorite ice cream in the middle. Before they are served guests can choose if they want their sandwich rolled in toppings and get their sandwich warmed up.

We have 2 cookie of the month flavors that are always changing and a seasonal rotating ice cream flavor. Other offerings include ice cream cups/cones/pints, cookies, sundaes and Bear Bowls (warm cookie/brownie bowls with ice cream)!
