If I Buy a Resale, Do I Still Have To Pay The Franchise Fee?
If I buy an existing franchise store, do I have to pay the franchise fee and the seller has to pay the transfer fee or does the transfer fee replace the franchise fee?
When buying a re-sale you DO NOT have to pay a franchise fee. That ‘paid fee’ indeed is part of the asset that you are buying. The transfer fee is a responsibility of the seller to pay at time of transaction but is often negotiated into the purchase price or as an expense paid by buyer or split etc. at time of closing.
