We Are Considering Purchasing a Local Subway Franchise Resale.
The seller has included the transfer fee in the asking price. Our broker told us that we could negotiate the transfer fee. Is this true?
Most franchisors will tell you there is no negotiation in our Subway franchise resale example. The transfer fee that they require from the seller (a cost that is often added to the sale price by the seller) exists to cover the training and transition from one owner to the other. If the location is not being run properly and the franchisor wants a new owner in place of the current one, they may be compelled to discount it. In most cases it is best to press the seller to cover it.
